How to Lose Weight Safely
When (as a society) you focus on movie stars and models, it is easy to get discouraged with our self-image. How to lose weight safely does not include all the new books and fad diets that claim how you can lose weight quickly or how you can lose weight in a week.
That might not be the safest thing for you. Is rapid weight loss possible and is it safe? That is the real question you should ask yourself.
Well, most doctors think that you can lose 2-3 pounds per week if you have a healthy diet and do some exercise. This will eliminate a lot of these wild diets that say you can lose ten pounds or more a week. Those are not healthy
Losing weight is a numbers game. Here is what I mean.
A pound is equal to approximately 3500 calories. A normal person will burn about 2000 calories a day. So if you burn more calories than you take in, you lose weight. If you take in more calories than you burn up then you gain weight.
So in effect, if you exercise and burn 500 more calories than what you take in then after one week you could expect to lose up to 2 pounds.
If you want to lose weight faster then you will have to burn extra calories or you could reduce your calorie intake.
Check your diet because many diets want you to restrict your salt and starch intake for fast weight loss but just beware that that might be mostly water weight and it probably will return.
It is really important to continue to eat balanced meals when planning your diet.
Helpful tips would be to eat fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, egg whites and nonfat dairy foods. Try to minimize the starches, sugars and animal fats.
Some other hints might be to eat a lot of vegetables. Vegetables will help fill you up so you are not hungry all the time and fill up with junk food.
Drink water! Especially before meals. Try to keep the unhealthy snacks and foods out of your home. If you have to snack, snack on healthy options.
Try and stop the bad habits. Like eating on the couch while you watch TV. You may eat just because you are bored. A good thought might be to only eat while you are at the table.
Don’t cut calories by skipping meals. This is not healthy and only adds too weight gain cause your body feels like it is in starvation mode.
Tip: How to lose weight safely
Sometimes it is a good idea to keep a food diary. It may help you see what you are eating and where you can cut back. Remember, Losing weight is a lifestyle change! Keep up the good work even if you do not see results right away.
